Idk when I'll ever actually be able to use this AU, but here we go. Silly explanation time go.
So when the BB Clones were being born, Liquid came out squalling as you might have expected and then shit started flying around. People realized pretty fucking early on yo this kid be psychic, let's give him training so he can use this shit as a proper weapon. Basically, looking at a Liquid with Mantis's powers before he even sets foot onto Shadow Moses. He doesn't have a Psycho Mantis ofc, but he's been looking for someone to fill that spot, and the conversations have basically gone like this:
Liquid: Yo, gimme a demo expert.
Government: wtf no you blow shit up with your mind.
Liquid: That's not a demo man! I want Fatman.
Government: He's on another assignment with Dead Cell. Now go play in Alaska.
So he's basically cranky af.
Keeps himself covered from the neck down because skin to skin contact makes it so he hears minds directly and that sucks. But vain af so he keeps his face uncovered. And of course, no tattoo. Anyone touching him is a bad idea, even through gloves.
Liquid having psychic powers is an open secret. Like, he doesn't openly advertise it, but he also uses at least the telepathy casually to his advantage constantly and everyone who knows about the current version of FOXHOUND knows things just... explode around them.
The drawback is Liquid isn't as strong as Mantis. He can't keep up a psychic assault nearly as long as Mantis can. He doesn't know this. In his world, he's pretty damn powerful. Yeah, sure, he pushes himself until his nose is bleeding and he's damn near blacking out, but it's made the team win. He doesn't know that in other universes that there's someone who's better. So while he would love to puppet around Meryl at Shadow Moses, but with everything else he was doing psychically, he'd probably be out on the floor if he tried for very long. He'd love to be able to tear someone's mind apart with his own mind, but he'd first pass out before that happened. He's an expert with what he has, but it's not the best.
